The East Chapel Hill High School boys’ varsity soccer team is stocked full of talent and heart, led by a young but experienced coach and backed by a devoted and enthusiastic fan base. Since ECHH no longer has a varsity football program, the soccer team has the full attention of the student body, meaning a packed student section for every big game. It’s a lot of pressure, but the boys are determined not to let themselves or their school down. In their fall 2017 season, I tagged along on their journey as part of a project for MEJO 580: Advanced Photo Stories.

Every Sunday afternoon at Freeman’s Creative in Durham, North Carolina, store owner and skilled crafter Amelia Freeman-Lynde hosts a casual craft club where local crafters of all skill-levels and interests can come and work on their individual projects in the company of fellow artists. These photos were taken as part of a week-long photo story assignment for MEJO 681: Photojournalism Capstone.
